It must be the week for this statement.
As of today, I’ve heard it 4 times, from 4 different clients, on 4 different topics. But more than the frustration of doing it twice is what you hear in their voice. They don’t like constantly being reminded of their loss, constantly having to figure out how to do it again, correctly, and not really wanting to do it in the first place.
Since this is the theme of the day, here are a few ideas to help you while closing the estate.
1. Use a legal size pendaflex file to keep everything that you are working on for the estate in.
2. Use a spiral notebook to log all your conversations, what you have completed and what is still outstanding.
3. Keep all checks received in a color manila envelope CLEARLY labeled until you can make copies and take them to the bank.
These are simple steps that can bring a little bit of clarity to a very muddy and emotional situation.
